Three EDM Scents to Rival Ron Burgundy’s Sex Panther

What does music smell like? One Berlin-based artist took on the challenge and came up with three scents to represent electronic dance music. To be unveiled at the New York edition of Unsound on March 31st, the audience will enter ‘Ephemera’ an installation space where they get to experience the scents and sounds together.

EDM goes hand in hand with incredible light shows and visuals to appease your sound and sight senses, but now Geza Schoen is putting your sense of smell in the mix.

Naturally, the smells you associate with the EDM scene at festivals and clubs are anything but pleasant – think sweat, alcohol and more sweat, but we wonder if this trio of scents will rival Ron Burgundy’s Sex Panther?

The three artists behind the signature sounds are Kode9, Ben Frost and Tim Hecker, creating musical notes to which Schoen matched the notes in each scent. So sensual. It comes in Bass, Noise or Drone – which will actually be bottled and available for purchase.

Interestingly, last year at Unsound all cameras were banned, so visitors got creative and had to tell their Unsound stories via drawings. We’re seeing photography bans come up more & more in clubs around the world, read one photographer’s perspective on the trend here.
