The Daft Punk and Jay Z Collab We Hoped Was a Fake

A somewhat suspicious track heralding the first collaboration between mega-forces Daft Punk and Jay Z has just surfaced. Despite some conjecture, Pitchfork, who posted the material, “can confirm that it is, in fact, real”.

It sounds like a pretty shoddy bootleg to us – mixing together a Daft Punk Tron Sample (“Son of Flynn”) with a crappy Young Hov rap that got quickly dispensed with (you can’t get away with rhyming ‘Blackberry’ with ‘Blackberry’). To be fair, it might not be that bad if the rap was eradicated – vibing a little bit of Kavinsky-inspired business on the backing. Pitchfork further adds that “no information is available about when it was recorded or if it will see release” – fair deuce considering it is a fairly lacklustre composition and could use some extra mastering – so here’s to hoping that it doesn’t get an official release!

In case you were wondering if Kanye West was involved in the production of the song, “we can confirm that he was not”.
