How hard is it to take a taxi? Seriously, we are all about getting sauced but when you put other people lives at risk, drunk driving is a downright disrespect for humanity. Unfortunate events outside of the House of Vans party, in the early hours of March 13th resulted in two fatalities at Austin’s SXSW music festival. Eyewitness accounts cited a drunk driver plowing into a packed street of music fans. See the video link below for the horror that resulted.

Inevitably, substance abuse is a side effect of live music and large events. Though police line the streets and patrol the bars, what can really be done to limit drunk driving? As festival expand beyond event-ground and invade cities, fans drive from near and far. As a dark cloud descends on SXSW at opening day, our thoughts are with the families, friends, and music affected.
