Simian Mobile Disco To Record Next Album Live In The Desert

Simian Mobile Disco are taking creative direction to the next milky way through an idea so outlandish, who knows if it is genius or not.

The duo who use to perform originally as Simian close to ten years ago and have since released three albums under Simian Mobile Disco are ready to launch themselves into California’s Joshua Tree National Park (which is a desert) to record an album live – guess they had better luck than Daft Punk who were knocked back on a recent tour spot.

The premise of the recording is for each of them to use only one synth and and one sequencer and be ‘committed’ to any sound that they create during the recording. Now, before you go ahead and call it completely ludicrous, we can tell you they are going to have a cross between pre-recorded stuff in the studio in the studio and live in the final mix down of the album, quoting;

‘We’ll be recording numerous takes beforehand in the studio, and when we come to mixdown the album, we might well end up using portions of studio takes as well as those recorded in the desert.”

The recording that will take place April 26th and is titled ‘whorl’ will probably see a whole heap of people getting psychedelic and weird in front of the duo for a very affordable $15. A great chance to be apart of Simian Mobile Disco History right?

More recently the pair knocked out a luscious techno track with homegrown hero Bicep, check it here.
