Patatap Turns Your Keyboard Into An Audio Visual Instrument (Procrastination Warning)

Patatap

Patatap takes procrastination to an insane new level by turning your keyboard into an animated sampler and synth. Simply tap any letter A-Z, to be gazed into the world of Patatap, where you will be greeted with all sorts of sound samples from drum breaks, synth pads, and laser beams.

The sound sampler is only half the story as you are also sampling elements of an abstract design such as colours and patterns. The ‘Space’ key also allows you to enter other canvases of new colours and sounds banks.

The “portable animation and sound kit” is designed by Jono Brandel, a member of Google Creative Lab’s Data Arts Team, and is collaborated with Japanese composer duo Lullatone to form the app. On his website, Brandel explains that Patatap’s aim is to capture the experience of synesthesia, the neurological condition in which senses combine, making people see sounds or hear colours.

Test out Patatap for yourself below. Your boss can thank us later.

Here are some of the early birds that are already uploading their creations to youtube.
