Eric Prydz; “We will not be pre-synchronising the show, no recording and pressing play”

Eric Prydz

Dance don and recent Future Music Festival tourer Eric Prydz, who managed to actually hop on a plane and conquer his fear of flying has delivered an hour long mix for long standing rock and roll music magazine Rolling Stone – the first in a series dubbed ‘RS Dance’ as the giant media conglomerate looks to further step foot into the dance realms.

It was only last week that long haired loot Skrillex earned a spot on the cover usually esteemed for rock royalty but timed well for the surprising ‘Recess’ album announce but still a little bi-polar for our liking since Rolling Stone managed to offend a heap of people November last year calling DJs “nothing but criminals with the licence to shoot shit into our eardrums” – heavy.

What follows the mix is a light on interview but interesting none the less with Eric said be mixing live sans pre-recording at Ultra Music Festival this year alongside Avicii and his branded condoms, as well as HOLO, the largest hologram ever to be used in North America

We will not be pre-synchronising the show, no recording and pressing play. I will play as normal and my team will follow live with me. On a show of this scale it is a very difficult undertaking few would attempt. It is about feeling the crowd, going with them, trying to create moments live.

We’re not sure if thats meant to impress us or shock us that DJs are in need of pre-records sometimes, especially when they can earn up to $250,000 for a single performance but understandably a live show with a big ass hologram can be harder to sync. What happened to just playing some music though?

Regardless, get into the mix… even if its just for the Sam Ball remix of New Order.
