Unsurprisingly, it took less than 24 hours for bootlegs, remixes and edits of the new Coldplay tune to land on the interwebs. In less than four days it’s copped over five-million YouTube hits, and we think that’s partly because it’s fucking awesome along with the fact it’s their first song since 2011’s ‘Mylo Xyloto’ – it could be a hint of a new album. It could also be produced by Jon Hopkins, but we don’t know that for sure. Regardless, first off the blocks for remix treatment was Swedish progressive trance guru Marcus Schössow who, rather than embedding his heavier, more impactful stylings of previous efforts, takes on Coldplay’s newfound personality for himself and re-routes ‘Midnight’ into a slightly more downtempo prog-house sound, making for a beautiful tune that – with any luck – could become an official remix.
