Canberra’s Greatest Export The Aston Shuffle To Release New Album ‘Photographs’

It’s official, Canberra’s greatest musical export The Aston Shuffle have pencilled in March 28th as the release date for their sophomore record ‘Photographs’ on EMI following on from the first uplifting teaser “Tear It Down” that landed late last year.

The new album has been in the works for almost two years now since their debut ‘Seventeen Past Midnight’ but that hasn’t phased the pairing of Vance Musgrove and Mikah Freeman who believe the time has been well spent as they “…tried to transcend just making music for clubs.” adding “Our music’s definitely rooted first and foremost in dance, and we want it to be played at festivals and on the radio, but we want it to be more than that.”

Features on the record will boast some old tricks from original Aston Shuffle member Ross McGrath and Stylaz Fuego as well as fresh voices in the vein of  British soul/jazz music Will Heard as well as bloghaus killer Mayer Hawthorne and Sydneys electronic darling Elizabeth Rose – all leading to a very exciting output!

In an exclusive interview with Stoney Roads in December last year the duo expanded on the lengthy recording process and quaint recording spots including a South Coast town;

It’s been a pretty long process which has been done in many stages in a lot of different cities – Ulladulla, Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne and London… but it’s all finally being honed down to the final tracks and it’s a pretty exciting feeling.

To really get an idea of what to expect The Aston Shuffle have knocked together a sub-3 minute minimix showcasing all 10 tracks on the record. Get into it!
