Poemss – the musical project from Toronto-based producer and music artist Joanne Pollock and Aaron Funk aka Venetian Snares. Their self-titled LP is out on Planet Mu at the moment and it follows their super-diverse and probably most musically strange year ever in 2013, with the RP Boo album being a triumphant highlight amongst other longplayers from John Wizards, Miracle, label boss µ-Ziq and Misty Conditions. But as “a collection of soft and dreamlike ballads”, ‘Poemss’ was recorded over the course of three months at Funk’s Winnipeg-based studio last year and is surprisingly heavy on vocals — a stark contrast to the kind of punishing break core his Venetian Snares alias is associated with.
