A combination of hilarity and disgust has spurred across the globe after images of a monkey drinking vodka were posted to promote a Dubai club event.

The event titled ‘Blackout’, posted the controversial image via Facebook, and quite accurately displays a monkey- in a  t-shirt and a promotional necklace- staring down the barrel of a bottle of vodka, that looks bigger than the monkey itself.

In order to ease the fury the image has created, Vanity nightclub decided to donate 10,000 AED (£1670) to animal welfare charity’s. Nothing out of the ordinary for Dubai really.

Vanity Nightclub also issued a statement on the issue saying the owner of the monkey (and the monkey) “were immediately removed from the premises once staff were alerted. The owner and his party that attended on the night have been banned from ever entering the venue again.”
