Barry O’Farrell Pushes Lock Out Laws Forward… Again

Barry O’Farrell has now pushed the 1:30am lock out laws forward to February 24 across central Sydney. It is about two months earlier than previously flagged (Late April).

Mr O’Farrell said the timetable would ensure venues and patrons “are fully aware of these changes and are ready when they take effect”.

The laws apply for all venues unless you pay a fee set up by the State government under the rule below
– Venues can become exempt from the lockout and last drinks rules if they pay a fee and if there is a ‘’negligible risk of alcohol-related violence’’.
‘Revenue raising huh?!’

Other conditions to note include
– From this weekend there will be eight-year mandatory minimum sentences for adults who commit an assault leading to death with a blood alcohol level of 0.15 (or three times the legal driving limit), effective this weekend.
– The laws will be reviewed after a period of two years.
