ACCC Set to Attack Extra ‘Drip Pricing’ Practices

Finally! The ACCC are coming down on a common dodgy practice called ‘drip pricing, used most infamously by online vendors in order to sneakily boost prices.

Take for instance; you buy a $150 ticket for a festival and old mate charges you $6.95 for you to print it on your own printer. How does that make sense?

Defs our mate Rod Sims from the Aussie Consumer Watchdog explains it simply, quoting: ‘Consumers see a ‘headline’ price advertised at the beginning of the booking process but when they progress to the payment phase, additional fees and charges have been added’.

Another industry riddled with this loophole is airfares, with budget airlines often deceiving the customer by pre-ticking boxes for extra things that they were not expecting to pay.

Rod watch doggy-dog ended by stating ‘this is of serious concern to the ACCC and we are currently examining if the current offers comply with the Court enforceable undertakings.’
