Techno legend Jeff Mills unveils new album ‘Chronicles Of Possible Worlds’

Techno’s very own astral traveller Jeff Mills is back with yet another dedication to outer space.

This time around, Mills sets his sights on “scientific data of newly discovered Extra Solar Planets using dance, art and techno music” to forward his sound after the extravagant ‘The Jungle Planet‘ LP in September last year. He ventured into intergalactic territory back in July as well with ‘Where Light Ends’, a collaboration with Japanese astronaut Mamoru Mohri. But ‘Chronicles Of Possible Worlds’ is apparently a soundtrack to his recent performance art show which premiered in late 2013 in Aix-en-Provence, France, commissioned by Foundation Vasarely. The show found dancers transmitting his music through a series of speakers built into their costumes, and Mills has used the findings as the basis for a suite of woozy techno electronics and subdued techno.

‘Chronicles Of Possible Worlds’ is available to pre-order now through his own Axis Records, with the soundtrack accompanied by a behind-the-scenes “Making Of” DVD and 22-page booklet explaining its complex subject matter. Fans are divided on whether the veteran should continue with this artsy vibe or just “go back to producing banging techno”, but either way, the record will be coming soon and will as always, be outstanding. Check out the tracklist below and have a listen to his infectious 138bpm hit ‘The Bells’ from way back in 1997.
