The 5 Biggest Moments Of Holy Ship 2014

Holy Ship is obviously talk of the town after the MSC Divina returned to port post an entire weekend abroad with the biggest FOMO moments in dance music ever occurring it seems. Last year it was non-stop b2b sets and out of the ordinary activities (yoga with Gina Turner) with this year proving to be no different – waiting on that limbo session with Dillon Francis. Due to the boats course, mobile and internet reception was slim keeping this party on the exclusive side… but here’s what we’ve heard and what seemed like the biggest moments abroad HARDs floating party Holy Ship.

what so not flume
5. Australian contingent

Holy Ship got a whole lot of green and gold this year with Light Year, Flume, What So Not and Wax Motif all adding their own to the weekend. Wax mentioned a b2b set with Claude VonStroke and Destructo while Emoh Instead of What So Not filled in with Skrillex for Maceo Plexs set since he missed the boat. Still waiting on word of Light Years slot but can imagine it went off without a hitch.

Flume Holy Ship
4. Flume being toted as British by SPIN in a Holy Ship report

Although it didn’t specifically happen on the ship and they’ve fixed the mistake, music site SPIN managed to note trusted national icon Flume as being British after a first day/night report. WRONG!

Disclosure Beach
3. Disclosure playing the private beach party in the Caribbean

Last year looked fun when Justice kicked it in the searing sun for Holy Ship 2013 but for some reason dark electro and UV just don’t seem to work as well as UK lads Disclosure throwing garage vibes beachside.  With the sun, beers and beats, nothing could go wrong… and didn’t thankfully! A notable mention must got to fellow monarchists Gorgon City for playing a decent set according to insiders.

Pharrell live
2. Pharrell performing “Get Lucky” live VS all the selfies artists took with Pharrell

When talking vocalists to knock out a live version of  Daft Punks Grammy nominated single “Get Lucky” you’d be hard pressed to find someone more suitable than the mighty Daft-man himself, Pharrell Williams (even though Bono gave it a good nudge). The live version was flawless according to fans and something we’d like to see with our own eyes in the not too distant future. This of course was tied with all the selfies artists took with Pharrell over the course of the night, ahem DisclosureBoys Noize and Just Blaze

Tiesto Holy Ship
1. Tiestos Surprise ‘deep house’ DJ Set
Probably the best kept secret of the Holy Ship! cruise was a surprise visit from Dutch superstar Tiesto who played a tight deep set according to on-lookers. Although seemingly out of place alongside the bulk of the lineups noisier elements he fitted right in playing b2b with Destructo before a solo stink on the Thursday night (prior to signing a fans forehead). Although it seems like the big T has lost is way a little following a recent admission to not actually writing his own music and even wed a couple in Vegas but still earned a mottzah with a cool $32 million and even a deep house radio show in the US.

Heres to booking tickets for next year!

Update: Big ass congra line during Tiestos set featuring Destructo, Zedd, We Are GTA, Diplo, A-Trak, Just Blaze, Alvin Risk, What So Not and Wax Motif.
