Spotify Release ‘Most Streamed’ Lists – Flume, Avicii, Calvin Harris, Daft Punk and More

Spotify have released their annual ‘most streamed’ lists with the usual suspects making it into their esteemed top 10s both globally and here in Australia. It really came down to a battle between the big three dance, with Daft Punk, Avicii and Calvin Harris all vying for the top spots.

Globally though, none earned the blue ribbon with Macklemore & Lewis’ follow up “Can’t Beat Us” holding out Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” at #2, “Get Lucky” by Daft Punk at #4 and Calvin Harris with “I Need your Love” at #10 after flipping out at a punter after being called a sell out earlier this year.

In Australia our love of the French robots shone through with Daft Punk toppling Macklemore & Lewis for the number one spot, little lady Lorde earning a #3 spot with “Royals” and Avicii yet again at it with “Wake Me Up” mid-chart at #6 before his Australian tour early next year.

Although not one of his single tracks stood out in the ‘Most Streamed’, Flume buzzed Australia enough to grab a #3 spot of the most streamed artist… meaning a whole heap of his tracks got rotation on Spotify and a testament to the young producers ability to write multiple songs.

When talking most streamed albums globally, it was Clavin Harris’ ’18 Months’ that pounced on a #2 spot which makes sense with the Scot taking home a Guinness World Record for most number one singles on an album, even beating the king of pop Michael Jackson.

Locally it was Flumes self-titled release that beat out Calvin Harris’ ’18 Months’ and Daft Punks ‘Random Access Memories’, proving once again Australias love affair with the Future Classic gun.

Overall, surprising placements but the usual characters yet still… good to see some dance stars bumping it around with the mega-pop stars of the world.
