Jensen Interceptor Shares His ‘Top 10 Albums Of The Year’

Motorik’s techno gunslinger Jensen Interceptor, behind one of our favourite tracks of the year “A.D.S.R” with fellow compodre Light Year has spilled his ‘top 10 albums of the year’ with more than a few surprises with a big nod towards the heavier rap game and experimental electronica of Boards of Canada and Fuck Buttons.

We’d have to agree that 2013 was an absolutely incredible year for music, of which we’ll be sharing our favourite albums soon but now. For now kick back with a message from Jensen himself, a pick of tracks from his ‘top 10’.

2013 has been an incredible year for music, so many amazing releases from so many amazing artists. This list was not easy to make and i am sure there are plenty of other records that are more deserving of a top 10 spot, but for me these albums got the most rotation in my car / ipod.

Jensen Intercepters – Top 10 albums of the Year

1. Asap Ferg – Trap Lord: Favourite Track: Hood Pope – “Instantly became a Ferg fan when i herd him on Asap Rocky’s track Kissin Pink. Hood Pope is stand out for me on Trap Lord”

2. Boards Of Canada – Tomorrows Harvest: Favourite Track: Gemini – “Dark 80’s Sci-fi vibes…PERFECT”

3. Dj Koze – Amygdala: Favourite Track: Marilyn Whirlwind – ” Was absolutely WOWED by this album. Dj Koze really showing that he can do anything and do it really well. Would love to see him link up with someone like Wes Anderson, a lot of the tracks sound like scores from his movies”

4. Earl Sweatshirt – Doris: Favourite Track: Hoarse “Never heard a Country Western sample flipped like this along with the 909 Snare combing with Earl’s bars that have more depth than most rappers twice his age make this an instant classic.”

5. Fuck Buttons – Slow Focus: Favourite Track: Stalker “Blown away by Fuck Buttons raw sound and epic analog sonic power. Super Experimental, dark & beautiful all at the same time”

6. Gesaffelstein – Aleph: Favourite Track: Nameless – “No surprises here, there is a reason why people like Kanye West are knocking on gesa’s door, his production is tighter than anyone else’s at the moment and it wont be long before his name is put into the same basket as Rick Ruben & Dr Dre”

7. Jackson & His Computer Band – Glow: Favourite Track: Arp #1 – “Was waiting forever for this album and it was well worth the wait. Arp #1 is my favourite, feels like i am hearing Soulwax for the first time, PURE DANCE ELECTRONIC ENERGY!

8. James Blake – Overgrown: Favourite Track: Voyeur – “I fell in love with James Blake for same reasons why i love guys like Jamie XX, weird, kooky, unconventional & lots of detuned synths with a voice that fills all the gaps”

9. Quasimoto – Yessir Whatever: Favourite Track: Season Change ” 2013 with out a doubt has been Madlib’s year. his colab’s with Freddie Gibbs have been incredibly fresh along with his Quasimoto – Yessir Whatever LP he has completely restored my faith in Hip Hop music.”

10. SCNTST – Self Therapy: Favourite Track: Percee Scan ” A star is born! After just one listen It is quite clear that Bryan Mü AKA SCNTST is one seriously talented dude. This record drifts from hip hop to techno and makes complete sense whilst doing so.
