Distal & Mite – Concrete Space [Embassy]

Distal and Mite have just released their techy Atlantan bassbin sound on the split ‘Concrete Space’ EP for Distal’s Embassy Recordings. Teaming up for a stomping 10 tracks of bass-laden house and rave-filtered techno, Distal’s half favours 808-heavy, rave-rap reconfigurations while Mite’s acid house / techno mutations are more meditative. The A-side, in my opinion, is at its best with the spacious, Jam City-alike structure of ‘Defnet’ and the nimble mixture of ‘Facebook Federali’, while Mite’s flipside smashes in the holo’d UK grime-style flex of ‘Witch Doctor’ or ‘Duppy Dem’. Huge EP.
