Disclosure will release a ‘remix album’ of their phenomenal 2013 LP ‘Settle’ as soon as December 17th with remixes courtesy of DJ Premier, Chicago house veteran Larry Heard and glossy RnB/Hip-Hop/80’s sauce producer Kaytranada. None of which we’d expect to see remixing the UK brothers!
Their album ‘Settle’ is also up for a Grammy nomination against some stiff competition with Daft Punk, Kaskade, Calvin Harris and Pretty Lights also in the race for the annual prize in the ‘Best Dance/Electronic Album’ category.
We’re also hoping “Apollo”, the pairs recent garage-y single not included in the album somehow makes the remix bundle with its driving synths and drums that steps away from the usual hook found within ‘Settle’ and could really shine with a decent remix even though the Lawrence brothers told us they had shy’d away from the experimental stuff and moved into chorus’ and hooks;
‘When we started we were making quite obscure, intricate, muso, experimental music… now we’ve got vocals and we’re doing verses and choruses and that was a choice because we feel like we’ve done the whole experimental thing and there’s no point just carrying on making the same thing forever’.
Also vibing on their cut “Together” with Chic frontman Nile Rodgers, vocalist Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes that didn’t, in our eyes get enough attention earlier in November that probably got snubbed thanks to that controversial music video takedown.
It’s all looking up for the British brothers.
