Police Crack Down On Boat Cruise ‘Raves’ In New South Wales

Police have begun cracking down on harbour cruises in New South Wales with two raids over the weekend in Sydney Harbour resulting in 15 charges being laid on 10 individuals.

An unlucky fellow found on one of two boats searched over the weekend was in possession of 53 tablets believed to be ecstasy and will most likely be charged with supplying a prohibited drug (bummer). The raids took place at Casino and King Street Wharf  between 11am and 2pm.

Superintendent Mark Hutchings explained “These types of intelligence-based operations will continue and we want to remind the public that law enforcement does not stop at the water’s edge, you are still responsible for your behaviour on the waterways.”

Cruises with both local and international guests has exploded in the last two years with now a busy pond for the floating parties. Having boarded a number of boat cruises in the past 12 months it has been notable that there is little to no police presence – the last though,  a huge step up in security and rules when on the vessel, a certain changing of times for the once seemingly unregulated rave.
