L.B. Dub Corp – Unknown Origin [Ostgut Ton]

Berghain’s famous Ostgut Ton presents ‘Unknown Origin’; the debut album from Luke Slater‘s inimitable L.B. Dub Corp moniker. His music has probably been described at more than one party, as “techno that girls could like”, and as XLR8R described, “he’s just on a positive vibe… techno is sometimes a too-serious world, and there’s a lightness to this album that’s as energizing as its machine rhythms.”

Since the 1990s, Slater’s been producing and releasing tunes on labels like Peacefrog, under his own name and under other pseudonyms like 7th Plain, but on ‘Unknown Origin’ he dwells on the more technoid elements of his PAS sound, better defined by his taste for dub space and atmosphere. He explores piano house, heaving techno and collaborations with Benjamin Zephaniah and Function; the ten tracks oscillate between sparse, steppin’ dubs and 4/4 house and techno pounders.
