George FitzGerald – Bad Aura

George FitzGerald

The deep, growling synths underlaying his signature high chords give George FitzGerald’s productions an intense presence of energy and movement. Coupled with “Magnetic” on his upcoming EP of the same name, “Bad Aura” is definitely the darker of the two tracks. The violin and organ sounds give it a brooding, gothic vibe but with a futuristic, metallic sharpness.

A churning beat cascades into clapping and subliminal whispering about 1min into the Radio 1 cut (2:30 into the fuller version here), and we’re reminded of the sinister title. In an interview when he was asked how his titles relate to the content of his tracks, FitzGerald responded:

“If you started a track in a certain mood, you tell yourself that the name of the track is just what the music sounds like. Often the titles sound a little funny, but they make sense to me. There is some internal logic in there; it’s not just slapping a name on something.”
