Face-Palm: New festival where EDM meets Country

Forget all your other favourite fusions (we’re looking at you indo-chinese cuisine), there’s a new duo on the rise. The stuff of nightmares, a move with potentially apocalyptic qualities, our fears realised, the fusion of EDM and Country music. Yep.

Big Kenny – half of the country duo Big & Rich is set to bastardise your eardrums with a new festival offering he intends to call the ‘Electro Shine’. Shudder.

Citing the success of bluegrass influence in recent EDM tracks such as Avicci’s ‘Wake Me Up’ and ‘Hey Brother’, Big Kenny intends to expand the concept and take it worldwide, competing with other such offerings as TomorrowLand and Coachella. Starting off he’s shipping the whole ‘Electro Shine’ experience (a musical monstrosity importing the freak fusion into a circus tent complete with gratuitous fog and acrobatic performers).

Discussing his ‘concept’ with Billboard Magazine, Big Kenny stated;

We’re building this all-inclusive festival inside of a circus tent that will put people inside an experience they’ve never had before. John and I travel the world and go in some of the banginest clubs you’d see anywhere and see how intense the whole experience is.

Before going on to discuss the uh, entertainment value;

It’s a musical circus that doesn’t stop and is all engaging. It’s going to be fun, fun, fun.

Firstly, we have absolutely no respect for someone who legitimately uses the term ‘banginest’. Secondly, no. Just no. This is a trend we are crossing our fingers will not catch on. Lets be real, the EDM/Country fusion was already championed many years ago by the HamsterDance and we do NOT need to revisit it.
