Guilty pleasure? Turns out it’s not all about Disclosure and the club/house movement after all. Our colonisers aka the United Kingdom have served Avicii a succulent success story by making his single ‘Wake Me Up’ the fastest selling single of 2013.

According to the Official Charts site, that ‘manage the future development of the charts in the fast-moving entertainment industry’ point out that Avicii’s country influenced track has become only the 140th single to sell a million copies in the history of UK charts. The Swede joins Daft Punk, Nile Rodgers and Pharrell Williams with “Get Lucky” and Robin Thickes “Blurred Lines” also featuring Pharrell.

Speaking with a Swedish accent to BBC Radio 1, Avicii said

“Having the fastest selling record of 2013 is obviously a huge deal to me. I never thought being on the Official Chart was an option for my music. Dance music has its own things; we have our own charts and lists, so just having a Number 1 is insane!“
