Coming off the ‘Juno Remixed’ release is cinematic techno producer Max Cooper‘s remix of Nils Frahm‘s ‘For’, following his performance at last weekend’s Decibel Festival in Seattle. Cooper writes “Nils Frahm is one of the best artists out there in my opinion, with pretty much the best live show I’ve ever seen”, and as a big thank you to everyone who’s supported him over the years he’s given it away for free. Cooper goes on to say that his tune “was just a really  enjoyable remix to work on because the original is such a great piece of music, and seemingly so well suited to what I wanted to do with it”.

Before I heard this remix about 10 minutes ago, my favourite track from Max was his ‘" target="_blank">Meadows‘ single off Traum Records earlier this year, and this remix of ‘For’ continues in the same, melodic direction. It’s not the first collab between the two producers, and with good reason; Frahm’s beautiful, clever piano melodies are a perfect match for Cooper’s emotional, distinctive breed of house / techno production, blurring lines (and not in the Robin Thicke way thank you very much) between the recital hall and the dancefloor.
