Mark Pritchard – Make A Livin [Warp Records]

Mark Pritchard delivers ‘Make A Livin’’, his third and final EP in advance of the new full-length album on Warp Records next year.

His two previous releases in the LP’s anticipation were his Ghosts EP in June and his Lock Off EP last month, and coming out November 11, this newest EP spans dub, footwork, jungle and 8-bit in ‘Fabulous Fred’ and ‘Jack’, while ‘Make A Livin’ is a milestone Pritchard production; drawing it’s vocal sample from the cult 20th Century Steel Band tune ‘Heaven & Hell’, and expropriating it into a half-time, siren-washed rhythm before getting perfectly switched into jungle dnb.

Whilst been known under various aliases – most recently Africa Hi-Tech, Harmonic 313 and Harmonic 33, his work under his real name has opened up possibilities and given Pritchard the freedom to explore new music as well as unreleased projects:

“As soon as I said ‘I’m just going to use my own name’ — which is a weird thing to do; names that you think up have a vibe, and using your own name is a bit weird, not as catchy — it felt positive. Freeing me up to release whatever I want, whenever I want – a really strong ambient tune from five years ago can sit next to something from last week.”

More streams closer to the release date.
