James Murphy and David Bowie deserve snaps for claps

In an awesome show of musicianship from several entities, James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem has orchestrated a mind-boggling remix of David Bowie’s recent ‘Love Is Lost’ using electric sounds and the incredible ‘clapping music’ of Steve Reich.

Bowie, who whether producing or creating just keeps freaking dominating (if you look up ‘longevity’ in the dictionary I’m pretty sure those sexy mismatched eyes will be staring up off the page) shot to the top of the UK charts again this year with new album ‘The Next Day’.

With ‘Love is Lost’ being one of the key singles from the 66-year-old rocker, Murphy saw ample opportunity to make shit dancey, and with backing from the B-dog, the track will be featured on a special edition of the album ‘The Next Day Extra’, set for release on November 5th.

But it’s not just Murphy’s trademark sounds which give the track some serious tang, the producer has also featured the mesmerising ‘Clapping Music’ of 1972. Written for two people, it shifts one bar over and over, and basically blew all of the minds.

Have a listen to Murphy’s remix, respectively titled the ‘Hello Steve Reich Remix’ and then the original ‘Clapping Music’ below.

We would say that we think this one deserves a slow clap, but Murphs has got us covered. DOUBLE TIME!
