Disclosure – Apollo

It’s 2am. I’m 30 Firefox tabs deep in a music hunt. A casual click over to my SoundCloud stream reveals oh I dunno, just a new Disclosure track that happens to be a big fat slice of FRIED FUCKING GOLD. This isn’t just a Disclosure fanboy overreaction either, ‘Apollo’ is a monster club cut from the British duo

‘Apollo’ doesn’t rely on the promise of a chorus to keep you plugged in; the track is five minutes locked inside a runaway train. Layers of synths and samples ebb and flow almost at random, but the train just keeps chugging forward, its pistons madly pumping away. Nothing about the track is memorable enough to hum, but the fingernail marks on my palms make it pretty clear that ‘Apollo’ goes harder than anything I’ve heard from Disclosure.

The Disclobro’s have copped some flak lately. First they were subjected to some nasty comments from Harlem’s resident drama queen / occasional rapper (you know who I’m talking about), and now they’re receiving some pretty squeamish reactions to their new music video. It’s satisfying to see them hit back in the best way possible – releasing a killer new tune…and it is killer. Stream it below and pray for a release ASAP.
