Cringe alert: The ‘How to Get Into Berghain’ Mobile App is here

Despite being one of the world’s most well-renowned techno clubs –  Philip Sherburne described it in 2007 as “quite possibly the current world capital of techno, much as E-Werk or Tresor were in their respective heydays” – Berlin’s Berghain / Panoramabar is also infamous for its highly unconsidered, hit-or-miss door policy.

Among other distinguishing nightclub features like the complete ban on photography and a strong reputation for decadence and hedonism, the door policy is selective and mostly random as there are no official VIP entrance or VIP areas.

For tourists and even locals who want to hit up the German fetish-central club though, this often poses as quite a problem as the club is located in a former power plant in Friedrichshain, near the Berlin Ostbahnhof railway station – hardly close to the city centre.

So how do you get into Berghain?

A group of genius optimistic European entrepreneurs have now launched an, err, mobile app, giving you all the steps on how to get into the home of techno at your fingertips including a map of the entire property, what to wear and the complete line-up for each night.

Hilariously, they’ve also made it possible for punters to purchase clothing straight from the app in an effort to ‘fit in’ with the enthusiastic German crowd, to therefore increase your chances of Berghain entry.

Sure, we can appreciate their passion for the music and yeah, the intention of the app is good. But for somebody needing their phone as a guide to get into a nightclub, maybe they shouldn’t be there in the first place.

Unfortunately this isn’t a joke, despite it being one of the funniest and most cringe-worthy attempts at helping out the Sunday afterrnoon techno-gurners yet.

So without further ado, check out the official unveiling of the app here at Hackathon (lol) this year – trust me, it’s classic.
