Zomby Cancels Australian Tour And OutsideIn Headline Set

The anonymous and left of centre electronic act Zomby has cancelled all Australian shows including his appearance as a headline act at OutsideIn.

Events touring agency Astral People issued a statement:

“We received a call yesterday from Zomby’s management stating that he failed to board his flight to Australia due to unforeseen circumstances, which are still yet to be disclosed. We are deeply sorry we are unable to provide you with a more in-depth explanation. After chasing one of our favourite artists for three years and the additional blow of Knxwledge pulling out due to family tragedy, we have decided to consolidate the all-ages show into a series of intimate side-shows – we wish to deliver an all-ages event in the near future when we can give it the focus it deserves. We still endeavour to bring Zomby out for his debut Australian tour, and will keep chasing those elusive producers who inspired us to start Astral People in the first place.

We’re incredibly lucky to have such a dedicated group coming to so many of our shows, we want to do the best by them and our artists – many of which are travelling to Australia for the first time. We hope you support us in trying to grow the festival at a steady and organic pace after a fulfilling debut with Smoke DZA, Shigeto, Africa Hitech, Flume and more.”

Zomby’s normal daily rants on Twitter continued with two statements today standing out. That he was looking forward to coming to Australia and that he will try again next year and bring a live show. This still leaves us shrouded in a bit of mystery to why he didn’t come apart from just not boarding the plane..

Only a week out from the festival and Australian tour kicking off we’re slightly bummed he didn’t make the trek over but know Astral People will endeavour to find a suitable replacement in time.
