Yesterday marked the release of Untold‘s double single of ‘Targa’ and ‘Glare’ for Modeselektor‘s 50 Weapons imprint. With previous label releases this year from the likes of Benjamin Damage, Addison Groove, Sam Binga, Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team and Modeselektor themselves, this new addition to the 50 Weapons roster only adds more strength to its 2013 catalogue. This is Untold’s debut for the label, and while being the founder of Hemlock Recordings and one of the most unique artists in the world of bass music, he’s left behind the heavily syncopated, grime heavy sound of the tracks on R&S and Hessle that made his name to focus more on the deep and functional 50 Weapons techno.

‘Targa’ is a slippery but frictional reduction of teutonic trance signatures glinting over a coefficient 4/4 roll, while’Glare’ on the flip inverts the formula, bringing the chuggy bass forward and stifling the shiny melodic features in favour of a searing, distorted darkside synthline.
