Meredith 2013 Lineup Revealed!

Usually when my alarm goes off in the mornings I hit snooze, check if i got any important texts or emails then go back to sleep. Today however, I got one very important email – from Aunty Meredith and it looks like one of my favourite festivals finally has a lineup!

Last year was my first Meredith (you can read my review here) and it was honestly a magical time. I actually just woke up from a nightmare about turning up to the festival alone in denim cut offs and an awful jacket without a tent or other clothes and it was v scary but moving on… Anyway I missed out on seeing Chic and Nile Rodgers the last time they toured but they’re back and the most exciting thing about their return is that they’re coming back to our shores because Golden Plains was such a “spiritual” and rewarding experience – naturally it was the Supernatural Amphitheatre beckoning them back.

Derrick May is heading down, guaranteeing that I’ll be tearing up in the early hours, covered in dirt when Strings of Life is dropped. Mac Demarco will be there with my favourite ciggie song so if any Stoney readers could send over a packet of some Viceroys that would be sick. If my heart was going to skip a beat, it did when I saw Jon Hopkins and Tim Sweeney’s names on the lineup which means there will be an veritable electronic feast. Oh and Oliver Tank and Andee Frost oh and so many other acts and bands I am going to mention now.

The first round announcement is as follows:

Chic and Nile Rodgers
Brian Jonestown Massacre
Deerhunter
Melvins
Derrick May
Spiderbait
Clairy Browne & The Bangin’ Rackettes
Beasts of Bourbon
Joey Bada$$
Vance Joy
Mac Demarco
The Bamboos
Hermitude
Dick Diver
Jon Hopkins
Helmut
Tim Sweeney
World’s End Press
Le1f
Beaches
Oliver Tank
Roland Tings
Stonefield
City of Ballarat Municipal Brass Band
Courtney Barnett
The Smith Street Band
Andee Frost
The UV Race
Baptism of Uzi
Tranter
Davidson Brothers
Warped
The Town Bikes
Silence Wedge

This year there will be 500 fewer people there to ensure that Meredith Time & Space is in abundance. There’s only one type of ticket: The Full Meredith Experience is $309 + $10 booking + $7 post; all camping & parking included. It’s happening at the Supernatural Amphitheatre on December 13, 14, & 15. Make sure you enter the ballot so you don’t miss out!
