India’s Rave Paradise Set To Ban Dance Bars

Popular Indian party destination Goa is set to lose it’s crazy status with the announcement that heavy regulations and bans are going to be put on clubs and dance bars. The state government in Goa has been forced to tighten the rules after a series of high-profile internationally covered crimes including the rape and murder of a 15 year old English teenager back in 2008.

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who was elected in the southwestern state last year is intent on making the area family friendly and commented on the ruling “Dance bars will not be allowed in Goa. There has been a lot of image-beating for the state due to the existence of drugs and prostitution on the beaches. We will clean it up.”

Best known to be a ‘laid-back’ party destination that has attracted 2.3 million foreign and domestic visitors annually, new regulations will include police remaining present on the beaches until midnight and a bigger emphasis on ‘silent discos’ to counter outdoor noise complaints.

A quick scan on Youtube reveals a treasure trove of footage of various psych-trance parties in Goa that really shows a weird and wild party scene. What the hell are we missing out on?
