Connor Cruise Living Up To Father’s Name With Upbeat Commercial Anthem!

Apologies, this one flew under the radar a bit, but we’d feel real bad if we didn’t bring it to your attention. Connor Cruise, the son of Hollywood royalties Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, dropped his first track, “Closer To Heaven” a couple of weeks ago and it ticks all the boxes. Heavy, housey, pop riffs that will send all those kiddies in a spin exclaiming ‘That’s So Raven!’.

It appears that EDM is the new creative outlet for 2000’s Disney stars and fans. The track entitled “Closer To Heaven” features the soaring vocals of Mason Musso. You will all remember Musso fondly from his days as the front man of Metro Station, alongside Miley Cyrus’s brother Trey, who we’ve all missed dearly. Musso’s brother Mitchell was also a star of Hannah Montana, so there’s some fun trivia!

Cruise told Billboard that, “I was trying to make an upbeat commercial dance music track that makes you feel good and is more of an anthem.” We think he’s pulled it off. But it’s still a pretty average song, and we can’t help but think that some serious financial backing has come from Mum and Dad.

Notably, the track was co-written by DJ Poet, whose responsible for some of the Black Eyed Pea’s gems, namely “Boom Boom Pow”. Poet has clearly played a role in influencing the sound of the track, which Billboard has described as “daring for a first time producer”. I don’t know about daring. Maybe it is the influence of French wizard Madeon that has pushed Cruise into the dance universe? Cruise stated;

“I have always loved house music since I was a little kid but when I saw Madeon at Coachella [in 2012]. That really inspired me to go fully into EDM and producing.”

The similarities are endless.

Look, it’s easy to poke fun at this kid, but good on him for getting in the studio and doing some work of his own that may one day create some buzz for him outside of his bloodlines. We’re just super disappointed he didn’t stick with his original moniker of “DJ C-Squared”.  A couple of year’s ago he was demanding $10,000 per show, so we’re glad some of that spending has gone into garnering positive reviews on iTunes and Billboard such as this;

Actually a great pool/ house party song! 5 stars

It’s a very upbeat/uptempo pump up and party type of song! Everyone dancing and throwing drinks up in the air and RAGING hard!

I even like it and I am 55 yrs young….Can’t wait to hear more from you Connor

Let’s just hope the success doesn’t go to his head and he’s still humble enough be “very friendly” with fans who ask for a snap.

See if you’re digging Cruise’s vibezzz. Kewl!
