Australian Launches ‘Club Promoter’ Reality Show, World Groans #facepalm

Just when you think more money can’t be squeezed out of the EDM craze, a new reality TV show set on searching the clubbing landscape to find Australia’s ‘Best Promoter’ is set to be filmed as pilot in Melbourne this year, with no specific network set in the crosshairs. The selected promoters will have their marketing accumen put to the test over 8 weeks with contestants be eliminated based on;

“Innovative marketing, ability to attract patrons, quality of patrons presentation, social skills and people management.”

What’s the prize you say? Well you can either walk away with $30,000 OR a return trip to Miami, Las Vegas and Ibiza, where you can learn to promote like the pros. You are really going to have love promoting to take home the later! but then again, why else would you be on the TV show?

There is no necessity to already be a promoter, and you’re current skill set as a promoter may help you, but you still have to go through an audition. Current terms and conditions include responsible consumption of alcohol and a drug free lifestyle which will probably be the cornerstone of drama in a few episodes.

This show has popped up amongst other dance music based reality TV shows that have sparked controversy with producers and DJ’s lashing out at the media industry for monopolising and homogenising the scene. However, it is likely this won’t have a direct impact on the music industry, as the music it self will be left untouched.

How long do you think this will last?
