RL Grime – High Beams EP

American trap/electronic producer RL Grime has just dropped a killer EP titled ‘High Beams’, that – if nothing else- will bring happiness through the utilisation of bass, and lots of it!

The five-track ensemble is RL Grime’s debut release on A-Trak’s Fools Gold Records, and I must say ,I am liking what I hear. The EP interweaves hip-hop with electronica (especially relevant in the tracks “CliqCliq” featuring Salva and “Secondary” featuring Problem) and is very generous with it’s bass-lines, which is truly fine by me.

In comparison to RL Grime’s older work – his remixes of “Mercy” and “Love Sosa” for example- it is clear that the patented RL Grime sound has been maintained in the “High Beams”EP, and the heavily ‘trap’ influenced style he has acquired is still the niche he is going for.

Stream the whole EP below and see what you think.
