The UK’s veteran producer Ikonika hasn’t put out an LP since 2010’s Contact, Love, Want, Have, but July 29th this year marks the release of her sophomore record Aerotropolis for Kode9‘s Hyperdub imprint. “This new album plays on an inspiration I wished I had focused on more growing up,” she explains. “I started fantasizing about making freestyle house and early pop, wishing I was a little older at that time so I could actually have made this music [then].” The bass fiend told FACT that the album refers to “getting high and [becoming] distant. Finding escape routes and fantasying about moving to the offshore colonies.” Deep.
