Ableton Liveschool: Making House Chord Progressions

In this video, Liveschool trainer Yama Indra (aka GLOVES) takes you through a technique of sampling chords to create chord progressions that has been an essential ingredient of dance music since day one, clearly explaining the theory and history behind it as he goes. Yama goes through examples of this technique being used in tracks by Julio Bashmore, Disclosure and Kerri Chandler then easily recreates the progressions using a chord he samples from a classic soul track by The Commodores. After showing you how it’s done, Yama then uses of both Max4Live and the new ‘convert harmony to midi’ feature in Ableton Live 9 to freshen up the technique to 2013.

Enough talk – the video tells the story! Enjoy.
