Ultra Music Festival is coming to Australia

“Yes it will in 2014.”

UMF tweeted this unexpected reply over the weekend in relation to one fan’s somewhat ambitious question, asking whether the international beast would ever venture to Australia. In a sort of Daft Punk attitude, the fan, ‘xLurch’, suggested a remote location (like Wee Waa) for the festival to be held, and the reply – seen below – can reveal their plans to hold a 3-day bender outside the 7 major Australian cities.

The announcement comes just after the UMF Korea weekend, where UMF TV was beaming out headlining acts from Armin van Buuren and Carl Cox over their YouTube channel. If you’re wondering about the validity of a Tweet or if you’re speculating about whether it would actually happen, if you were tuned in to Ultra Miami this year you would have remembered hearing the mainstage MC running through the stops on UMF’s worldwide expansion. “UMF Australia – that’s the furthest we’re going to go,” he said. UMF Croatia is their next stop this Summer from 12-14 July, with headlining acts from EDM masters Avicii, Armin van Buuren, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, Hardwell and many more.

Stay tuned for more as we get it, but for now watch the 4-minute teaser to the official after movie for Ultra Miami in March aptly called Relive.

One question though; do we need this? Do we have enough festivals?
