Trippy Turtle – Southside Deep

You should know right now that this Trippy Turtle character is a huge tease. He’s almost always holed up inside his shell, only popping his fins out sporadically to deliver incredible tunes to the internet. Those moments start many a solo bedroom party across the world, but they’re consistently soured by the lack of any way to buy, steal, plunder, kidnap, or otherwise obtain that party-starting jam. Unless you’re willing to settle for a low quality SoundCloud rip, and let’s face it – that ain’t good enough.

Being the the stupidly cunning bastard that he is, Trippy Turtle has managed to discover a huge undiscovered plot of land between Cheesytown and Strangeville. That is, he uses some ultra corny rnb samples in a completely twisted and exciting way, and it’s bloody excellent. In this particular track he also uses small gaps of silence to huge effect. I’m talking absolute silence. No reverb heading off into the distance, no nothing. It’s such an obvious way to maker ears prick up, but for some reason it’s rarely done.

I will go out on a limb and say that the silence isn’t what makes it a good track though, so you should probably hit that big orange button ASAP. I’ve previously wondered whether Trippy Turtle is a side project of Cashmere Cat (g’day squeaky bed samples) but it doesn’t really matter as long as these strange tracks keep popping up on Soundcloud. Get into it.
