Pioneer introduces the XDJ-R1

Pioneer XDJ-R1

Pioneer has unveiled its latest all-in-one DJ system, the XDJ-R1; it lets you play music from CDs, a USB stick or DJ software, and you can control it wirelessly from an iOS device.

This new unit comes in looking a bit like a pair of CDJs, a streamlined Pioneer mixer and a laptop interface all in one. The two decks work like the company’s signature CDJs, with beat effects built in and buttons to launch cue points and loops. Each deck features a CD drive but can also control music loaded in via a USB stick or DJ software on a laptop. The streamlined mixer in the center gives you three-band EQ and color effects control for each deck.

The biggest innovation, however, comes by way of a built-in wireless network that can connect to an iOS device and control effects with Pioneer’s remotebox app. This lets you manipulate the parameters of the unit’s built-in effects on an intuitive, touch-enabled XY grid. Pioneer will release it sometime this month at a cool price of 999 euros!

The video below shows off exactly what the XDJ-R1 can do. What do you reckon?
