Outputmessage – Quantum Love Remixes

Outputmessage

I first heard of Bernard Farley, aka Outputmessage, through a Ghostly International compilation called Idol Tryouts Two. His track “Sommeil” has stuck with me since the compilation was released back in 2006; it’s still one of the most gorgeously produced tracks I’ve come across.

The Washington, DC based producer, singer, and DJ released Quantum Love this past October on his own imprint, Output Noise Records. This set of remixes offers fresh interpretations of “40000km” from City Rain and Micah Vellian, and of “Heisenberg” from MPDM Film Adaptation. The City Rain rendition, which you can download, is especially entrancing. If you like Farley’s dreamy melodies, check out his Apparitions project, and stay tuned for another EP coming in August, as well as a new album.

Not only is Outputmessage a talented musician, he’s also a writer, and shared some thoughts about music on his Tumblr recently that bear repeating:

Life is Music

“Life is but a series of sine waves, peaks and troughs, highs and lows of emotion and circumstance. We often wish life were constant, a sustained high, a flat line. But then there would be no change, no oscillation, no sound, and therefore no music. Our times of sadness and discontent are thus not misfortune, but just a small part of the great song that is called life.”
