Following on Kode9′s Rinse:22 compilation that came out on 21st May, the Hyperdub boss has just released a two-track EP titled Uh/ Ok.

Uncovering a thrilling point of contact between grime, broken UK house and the disorienting lurch of trap, these two tracks were first aired on his Rinse mix and are so unique I don’t know really how to describe them; especially the B side Ok. 

The A side, Uh, is a percolated garage hybrid complete with chiming house hooks and wrong-footing tempo changes completed by slowed-down arpeggiated snares that just work so well in absolute madness. This one is my favourite off the release. Too sick.

Ok on the flip is even more exploratory and deadly, revolving around mighty Shake Shakir style synth melodies and regimented percussive flourishes; it sounds like a Frictional twelve played at two speeds concurrently, disorientating yet cohesive, once again pointing the way forward to those myriad producers content with rehashing the same old. This is some real future shit.
