Author – the dubstep-leaning union of Jack Sparrow and Ruckspin – have returned with their sophomore LP titled Forward Forever.

With their self-titled record on Tectonic in 2011 presenting a more reflective and jazz-inflected sound than their solo work, an RA review at the time called the duo’s sound “comfortably conservative yet experimental.” Now, this record showcases a more “natural-feeling, organic vibe”, and points to Ninja Tune favourites The Cinematic Orchestra and Bonobo as key influences. Guest spots are filled from UK hip-hop face Jehst and battle regular Stig Of The Dump. Black Canvas’ Rider Shafique, last heard on Kahn’s Late Night Blues, has also appeard, as does reggae vocalist Dan Man.

Coming through Bristol dubstep imprint Black Box, thrumming album track Innovate is available to stream below via Jack Sparrow’s Soundcloud, and shows the pair’s languorous new direction in full effect. Also, an album mix has been done to stream the entire LP at once. HUGE!!
