Swiss Police Arrest 61 at Techno Parade

Europe’s undying love for electronic music has surfaced with 61 arrested during a techno parade in the city of Berne, Switzerland.

The “Tanz Dich Frei” (Dance Yourself Free) parade, in it’s third year saw close to 10,000 mostly youths snake their way through the city along with an assortment of cars and trucks carrying audio gear and large speakers!

Tanz Dich Frei was organised through an anonymous group through Facebook with requests for this to be a peaceful event looking to revitalise what they believe to be a city that has been “sanitized for the rich”.

A rouge group ‘Black Bloc’ clashed with police and caused what is expected to be over $100,000 worth of damage to shops with mostly broken windows along the parade route while also using flares and fireworks against authorities (watch the footage below).

Over 50 ambulances were called through the day to treat mostly heavy drinking within the crowd.

Organisers claimed many protesters acted in self-defence on the day; “The state made its intentions clear. The protection of parliament was more important than that of thousands of people,” they said.

Watch alternative footage below of the peaceful day time protest and later that night. Guess you shouldn’t try take techno from the people!
