Yep, there is a Russian bass scene and it’s fucking awesome. Up-and-comer Raumskaya out of St. Petersburg proves this, with the self-proclaimed ‘juke boy’ releasing his Snapshot EP a few days ago thanks to Hyperboloid Records. The label’s 20th release gives remixes from Pixelord, Gillepsy and Koloah, while Raumskaya delivers four genre-skipping originals. Unlike most jukesmiths, the Russian doesn’t seem to keep his tracks tethered to any one idea for too long, infusing tracks with dub and off-kilter house influences filtering through a juke trapdoor.
