Quadron Worship Michael Jackson with their take on ‘Neverland’

Quadron - Avalanche

Quadron, the self-proclaimed ‘electronic soul’ artists out of Denmark, have paid tribute to Michael Jackson by honoring him through their newest single Neverland.

Coco Maja Hastrup Karshøj and musician/producer Robin Hannibal may be known to some of you by their self-titled debut album in July 2009, which took out the #7 spot on New York Magazine’s top 10 albums of the year. But, like me, some may know this duo through their collaboration with EDM veteran Kaskade on Waste Love, off his 2011 best-selling Fire & Ice album, released on Ultra, that debuted at #17 on the Billboard Top 200, #1 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums, #6 on the Billboard Digital Albums, #3 on the Billboard Independent Albums and #36 in Canada. It also earned Kaskade his first grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album.

Hannibal stated that “(we) are both huge fans of Michael Jackson and we wanted to write a song about that, but from a different angle… We created a third-person story about when people become impersonators to pay tribute to artists that are their idols because they are so obsessed with them.”  The track dips into soulful vintage sounds from the 70s, wrapping Coco O.’s fleet vocals around Hannibal’s horns and strings on the sensual, syncopated crawl.

“The last line of the lyrics are ‘We’ll meet in Neverland,’ which serves as symbolism for both MJ’s ranch but also the utopia and dream world that it represents.”

Neverland will be released on June 4th via their next album Avalanche.
