XXXY – Progression / Thinkin Bout EP [Ten Thousand Yen]

XXXY - Progression / Thinkin Bout

London-based musical genuis XXXY is set to release his newest EP April 15 on the Doc Daneeka-headed label Ten Thousand Yen. The Progression / Thinkin Bout release sits on a different tip to his usual business, steering away from his dub-techno and post-dubstep stereotype to bring a new flavour to house music – if you want to call it that. In his own words, “The A side is an arpy thing with bass, the flip is a vocally thing with bass.”

Having initially built up a fearsome reputation for churning out those twisted, off the wall bangers on labels such as Mindset, Fortified Audio and Infrasonics – which earned him a spot on FACT’s ones to watch for 2010 – he recently caught the ear of the Rinse FM crew to cop his own monthly radio show, and obviously a signing to the Welsh label which this EP will be brought out on. With Ten Thousand Yen once being the home to Presk, Benjamin Damage, early Julio Bashmore and countless more, it’s fair to say he’s done well in producing his take on the future of house music that has become so prominent in the UK over the past couple of years. With Progression being the ‘arpy thing’ and Thinkin Bout the ‘vocally thing’, I’d be surprised if this release didn’t appeal to most. Enjoy!
