Last night, while trying to make sense of Soundcloud’s recent antics, I made an interesting discovery. A cursory click on a related link led me the music of Trippy Turtle. I was hooked instantly, but I also noticed that things sounded very familiar. A quick skim of the comments section told me that others had the same feeling. Have a listen to this, and see if it rings any bells.

Who else do you know that likes strange animal-themed alliterations? The musically eccentric Cashmere Cat of course. In fact in the above track, it’s easy to pick out a few choice samples that were also used to great effect in Cashmere Cat’s ‘Mirror Maru’.

Cashmere Cat has tweeted about the producer too, and follows him/her on Soundcoud. So either the Cat is a really chill dude (unlike Calvin Harris) and has no problem with his samples being reinterpreted, or he’s experimenting under a different moniker.
