Out a couple of days ago via his own Kapsize label, Joker returns with The Face Off EP. Dropping his distinctive purple funk across all four tracks, the release is exactly what you’d expect from him. Overall, the release is really impressive, with the opening track, Zim Zimma even pulling proudly on some hair metal guitar licks over typical piano stabs, and the third track Handz Up surprisingly getting some trance-like treatment. Newham Generals rounds off the EP with the most lairy of all the tracks, channelling all the strengths of the previous tracks into one bold and bashy beast of a track. I’m always a fan of Joker’s work – this shit goes hard.
