RAC unleashed the best April Fools’ joke going around the interwebz today. But like most things RAC, that joke is actually–in a weird, serendipitous way–kind of awesome. But it also overshadowed a tune he uploaded late last night that’s a strong departure from the typical, pop-infused upbeat RAC remixes we’re accustomed to. And it’s a friggin awesome ambient trip of “Drum&Shoegaze.”
While I’m no D&B expert, I wouldn’t exactly call it revolutionary–it’s just a very sleek and well-produced experiment from RAC. One that I’m writing back in the hopes that he does indeed to do some more work as this side-project Fitness and maybe gives this one away for free. Because like Flight Facilities move to the ambient and GRUM’s recent foray into the deep end, it’s both refreshing & mind-blowing to see an artist delve into uncharted territories. And knock it out of the park like RAC clearly just did:
Oh also. This:
Seriously RAC? Beast mode.
Explanation:
“I’ve been wanting to make some purely sample based music for a long time. I thought it would be kind of hilarious to mix something like Drum and Bass with Shoegaze, so this is what came out. It’s the result of a few boring plane rides. Consider this a 1 day sideproject. I’m gonna take it down at the end of the day on Monday.”
Swoon.
